![]() ![]() Systemic funding bottlenecks like delays in investment closing, short-term working capital needs, and underdeveloped financial markets often disrupt operations. What mission-driven entrepreneurs are trying to achieve is hard, and impact capital often gets stuck. Each of the 150+ loans we've made since 2017 has brought a natural evolution and strength to our model resulting in what the Open Road Impact Fund is today. It has been four months since I stepped into the CEO role at Open Road, and as I lead this organization to our next era, our purpose continues to evolve as we closely scrutinize what it means for Open Road and our sector to create impact. By unsticking, we mean solving systemic funding gaps for impact first companies by providing rapid access to bridge capital. Open Road exists to "unstick" capital in the social sector. This strategy is not without risk, but my team and I believe in its importance in our bones. ![]() Open Road is and will remain an impact-first fund. When making an investment, there is a tradeoff between impact and financial return - not every time, but often. This question is now core to how we do our work. At the time, I often reflected on who impact investing was really working for: investors or the impact companies and the communities they serve. Seven years ago, I joined Open Road as its second full-time employee. ![]()
